Week 2
Franklin's New Friend by Paula Bourgeois
Read the story, then have students stand up when a statement is made that they agree with, ie I love pizza. End with I am in Kindergarten
Watch Franklin's New Friend video while checking out.
Week 3
Watch video of Goodnight Gorilla.
Place finger puppets in a basket or bag and have the children pick one out, this way it is a surprise who they get to be in the story. Read the story a second time. Make an extra copy of the images to place the pictures in order as rereading the story. Ask who got out of the cage first and the children holding that animal stand up and the rest of the children say, "Good Night, (name of the animal)." Obviously the gorilla was first, so all the children with the gorilla finger puppet need to stand up at that point and they can gather together in groups, until all children stand up in seven groups (one for each animal - include the mouse) and they all say Good Night. As each animal is called place the pictures in order on the board .
Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina
Read aloud the book, and then have students color one of the caps below. The caps are then placed on a picture of the teacher. I printed of their school picture on an 11X17 piece of paper. Then to finish it off, the monkeys are added around the caps. Students can watch a video of the book while coloring. I have placed it in Google Drive.
